2018 - Counting Our Losses: Social Entrepreneurship, Refugees and Urban Transformation in Turkey
The project is run in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice, with the support of the British Academy between January 2018-July 2019. The project traces spaces in Istanbul, which refugees use in their capacity as social entrepreneurs to advance their skills and develop a sustainable livelihood. It examines how refugees’ social entrepreneurship initiatives can be supported by state and non-state actors as a step towards urban citizenship and integration. The project aims to map such spaces and produce an online database that can become an ongoing resource for refugees, NGOs and policy-makers.
